Solar control EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) refers to a specific type of EVA film used in the production of laminated glass for architectural and automotive applications. It incorporates additives that help control solar heat gain and reduce the transmission of harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
The solar control EVA film can be prepared by adopting specific nano materials, which are uniformly dispersed and fused in the base materials. Then the film can acquire the function of IR absorbing, thus giving rise to thermal insulation while maintaining the same optical property, mechanical property and adhesion to the glass as a normal film. The infrared blocking rate is ranged from 90 to 98%, and the ultraviolet can be filtered by more than 95%, while the visible light transmission remains over 70%.
Solar control EVA can be used for architectural glazing, residential buildings, commercial buildings, automotive glazing, public transportation, specialized applications.
The advantages of solar control EVA are:
- Solar Heat Reduction
One of the primary advantages of solar control EVA is its ability to reduce solar heat gain through windows. By blocking a significant portion of the sun's infrared (IR) radiation, these films help keep indoor spaces cooler, reducing the reliance on air conditioning systems and lowering energy costs.
- UV Protection
Solar control EVA films provide effective protection against harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. By blocking UV rays, these films help prevent fading and deterioration of interior furnishings, fabrics, artwork, and other materials exposed to sunlight, thereby extending their lifespan and preserving their appearance.
- Improved Energy Efficiency
By reducing solar heat gain and minimizing the need for artificial cooling, solar control EVA contributes to improved energy efficiency in buildings and vehicles. This can lead to lower energy bills and decreased environmental impact by reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy consumption.
- Enhanced Comfort
The reduced solar heat gain facilitated by solar control EVA films helps maintain a more comfortable indoor environment, especially during hot weather conditions. By keeping indoor temperatures cooler and reducing glare, these films create a more pleasant and productive living or working environment for occupants.
- Safety and Security
Like standard EVA films used in laminated glass, solar control EVA provides safety benefits by holding glass fragments together in the event of breakage, reducing the risk of injury from flying shards. Additionally, some solar control EVA films may offer enhanced security features, such as increased resistance to forced entry or blast mitigation, further enhancing occupant safety.
- Aesthetic Enhancement
Solar control EVA films can also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of buildings and vehicles by providing uniform tinting or coloration options. These films can be customized to achieve specific visual effects, complementing the overall design scheme and enhancing the architectural or automotive aesthetics.
